A mixing pot of immigrants, prospectors, businessmen, and filmmakers, LA has a storied heritage of having people of all wakes and backgrounds. The same can be said for the LGBT community, which has had one of the richest cultures in Los Angeles as early as the 1920s.
In this 1965 committee, delegates from all backgrounds will meet in Los Angeles in the midst of one of the greatest LGBT movements in the country. This takes place directly following the Black Cat Tavern incident, wherein multiple patrons were assaulted and arrested for kissing in one of LA’s largest gay bars. In this committees, delegates will explore the demonstration that will follow, and continue to plan and fight for LGBT rights in Los Angeles and the world.
