The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization promotes peace through international cooperation on education, technology, science and culture.
In this session, UNESCO will gather to address the most pressing cultural and educational issues of the 21st century: The handling of restoring the historic power imbalance between more and less economically developed nations through culture and education. For centuries, culturally important artifacts have been extracted from its region of origin for display in other nations. Even today, many of these artifacts remain in the nation that removed them. In less economically developed nations, there is also a noticeable gap in the standardization of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. By focusing on tackling these issues, UNESCO can create a more equal world while simultaneously promoting multilateral cooperation.

Meet the Chairs!
Daniel Pirich ~ Head Chair
Danny is a senior at USC majoring in Biochemistry while pursuing a concurrent Master's Degree in Biopharmaceutical Marketing. He is originally from Seattle, WA but has been enjoying living in sunny Southern California for the past 3 years. He joined MUNSC in the Spring of 2024 and has served twice as Director of New Member Affairs and once as Vice President of MUNSC's competition team. He also served as Director General of SCMUN 2026, MUNSC's high school conference. Outside of MUN, he works as an editor for USC's undergraduate history journal The Scroll and can be found in his on campus research lab studying metabolomics and enzyme kinetics in sediment samples. In his free time, he enjoys reading, going to the movie theater, watching TV with his roommates and spending as much time as possible with his friends. He cannot wait to serve as head chair for UNESCO and hopes to make his final TrojanMUN the best its ever been.
Paulina da Silva ~ Co-Chair
Hello Delegates! My name is Paulina da Silva and it is my honor to be your UNESCO chair for TrojanMun 2026. I am a Los Angeles native and Senior here at USC studying Political Science and Business Law. This is now my fourth semester in USC MUN and my second time acting as a chair for TrojanMun.This March I had the opportunity to travel to New York City to staff NHSMUN, the largest international high school conference, funnily enough as the Director of UNESCO. In my free time I love to be with my wonderful boyfriend (who I genuinely met through a MUN conference), go out with friends, and try new restaurants. If you need any recommendation about anything, please come and ask me. I work at a law firm about one block away from the hotel in Little Tokyo, so I promise I know the spots. Aidan Weinberger ~ Deputy Chair
My name is Aidan Weinberger, and I’m a sophomore here at USC studying Political Economy and minoring in Management Consulting. I’m originally from San Diego, and this is my second semester in MUN in college, though I competed on and off in high school as well. I’m also involved with our Global Policy Institute, Teaching International Relations Program, and our campus Hillel. After graduating, I most likely plan on attending law school and hope to work in some form of international or trade law. Outside of academics, I love to go on runs, try new coffee places, spend time at the beach, take late-night drives, and watch reality TV shows. I’m incredibly excited to staff my first TrojanMUN and can’t wait to see you all there!
